The Nightmare of Happiness
Justine del Corte Rex Theatre - Kotopouli Stage
What does happiness mean? is there perhaps some magic route that leads to it? What are the materials from which it is constituted? What is the role of the family, society, sex and money in its pursuit? Putting particular emphasis on the female psyche, Justine del Corte constructs an episodic story, both funny and touching, made up of the testimonies and experiences of individuals who pursued a dream and lived a nightmare.
The GNT introduces the writer Justine del Corte. This bold, challenging and tough play, from a writer of mixed Austrian and Mexican parentage, explores an issue bound up with the very essence of human nature: the torturous pursuit of happiness. The artistic director of the Greek National Theatre, Yannis Houvardas, brings this contemporary work to the stage with a group of superb actors playing a range of fascinating characters.
