August

 Violet Louise creates the  multimedia performance  August, based on poems of greek poet Giorgos Veltsos. August is an audiovisual performance and installation, on the meaning of life and death.

The story is about a woman who returns to a place of memories. She is dreaming  her island Mykonos, where she spent her summertime as a child, hearing the sound of the sea and  seagulls. A happy childhood by the sea, the shells and starfish.

At this island she experienced the death of her mother. Α dead fish on the table looking at her, an eye watching her, revealling sth terrryfiyng thai is going to happen.

August is a story for life and death which resembles  to a cinematic film. Music, sounds and videos  are original materials of the creative team. Underwater videos recorded in the area of greek Saronic bay, recorded sounds of sea and seagulls, shells, starfish, create the personal world of Violet Louise.

Cameras, microphones, create a breathtaking live performance with the sounds of the water, a minimalistic approach to the meaning of life and death.

And poetry? Perhaps the only way to conquer the fear of death: “At the end of this day, the great icebreaker of Silence comes into the house from the Northwest Window. Invades. My trip to the room through my writings. Towards  the night before I go to meet the waves.”
